Cameras improved where it is hardest
Daylight photography plateaued some years ago. This year’s meaningful gains are in low light and in how quickly a phone settles on an exposure when you move between them. That is the difference you will notice.
Battery life went up without bigger batteries
More efficient displays and processors did most of the work. Capacity is broadly flat year on year; endurance is not.
Charging speed is a specification, not an experience
Beyond about sixty watts, the practical difference between chargers is a few minutes. Heat management and how long the battery lasts in years matter more.
Worth upgrading?
From last year, no. From three years ago, the difference in battery life alone usually justifies it.
